Dear John
A long distance love relationship is hard. That's the point of "Dear John". Dear John is written by Nicholas Spark, one of my favorite author. If you are one of his fan, you will recognize his love story in this movie.
The story begins with John's (Channing Tatum) brave act to save Savannah's (Amanda Seyfried) bag that drop in the sea. After the brave act, they get close during the summer holiday for 2 weeks as John have to go back to his crops (he is an army, special force) and Savannah have to go back to school. They are deeply in love. They promise each other to keep in touch by letter and meet again in 12 months.
Whoa! After 2 weeks of sweet romantic love, they have to be separate for the next 12 months. It is hard to stay and keep in love. Well, something unexpected happen. The 9/11 and all the army need to stay on duty to fight the terrorist. John is confuse whether to serve his country or fight for his love. When the rest of his team decide to serve the country, John decide to serve too. He only have 2 days off to fulfill his promise before the next duty. So, he goes to Savannah and tell her the news. She is angry but finally understand and let him go.
Again, the love has to face a trial. After years, she finally wrote her last letter to John stated her decision to marry another guy. John was devastated. He spent most of his time in battle field in order to forget her.
I understand the difficulty of a long distance relationship. I've been there, done that. I don't blame Savannah when she take that decision. But I won't say it's true either. Probably I'll take the same decision in the same circumstance. They only spent a little time together and letters won't replace your need of love, attention and care. This movie portrays exactly the difficult of such relationship.
If you are curious about the ending, I suggest you to watch it. A nice lesson to learn! One thing for sure: love will find its way.
Watch it!
